The Rough Diamonds

What & why?

Concert for a Cure was the brain child of three people that had all been touched by Cancer. Each of the three creators had seen the hurt and pain that Cancer caused, and all wanted to make a difference to peoples lives, by helping the fight against Cancer.

Matt Lawrence, editor of The Blacktown Sun and Mt Druitt, St Marys Star, held a benefit night “Concert for Life” to help raise funds for Ovarian Cancer after losing the love of his life to Ovarian cancer. All proceeds went to the Westmead Medical Research Foundation.

Michelle Humphries also held a benefit night called "A Night of Laughter", spurred on by her recent loss of her Mother after a hard fight with Ovarian Cancer. with all the proceeds going to Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation.

Teek Dover-Ray held "Thanks for the Mammaries" with all proceeds going to Breast Cancer.  Having under gone a bilateral mastectomy it was while Teek was still in hospital recovering that she and Matt Lawrence first started the talk of a Concert for a Cure. What started out as an idea for a BBQ, then quickly turned to a Concert with 11 amazing artists who have all donated their own time to bring their incredible talent to the public, to help raise money to fight the fight against cancer.

Concert for a Cure is a concert that we hope to make an annual event. Bringing together musical acts that will lift spirits, unite communities and raise awareness and that will help with medical research to find cures for more then just cancer. With all the money being donated to Westmead Medical Research Foundation, we hope that one day, one of our dollars raised, might just be the dollar used to find a cure.
